Welcome to Gypsies in our Fifties
Dream - Discover - Explore
Our children are independent and self sufficient (well mostly) and so now it's time for us to say goodbye to the daily grind of nine to five jobs and move in a new direction. Gypsies in our Fifties is our way of sharing where our dreams lead us. We'll be exploring the people and the food in new countries and new cities; we'll be discovering stunning scenery and beautiful art and architecture. So sit back and relax and join us in some of our discoveries.
Update - 07 June 2022
The days are racing by…..
Last month saw us slow down a lot with two separate two-week housesits in rural Hampshire. Both were delightful with the English countryside still waking up to the new season – plenty of rain but beautiful country life to enjoy….which we did.
Late in the month we took the Eurostar (always an amazing journey) to Paris to take in some of the French Open tennis at Roland Garros. It lived up to all our expectations and even though it was early in the tournament, we were able to see Novak Djokovic (Fiona not so impressed!) and one of the eventual Men’s finalists Casper Ruud.
From there we flew down to the south of Spain to return to Los Urrutias for five weeks in the sunshine looking after Jack and Sooty. We were here in Dec/Jan but it’s so different tor return in the early summer. The light is that much more intense and with 28-30 deg temperatures, we are finally being able to enjoy the pool that we could only look at back in the winter!!
Our big news though is that we are soon going to be homeward bound! After we wrap up in Spain, we have six weeks house and pet sitting back in the UK and on 15 August fly out to Thailand for a couple of weeks planning to arrive back home around 1 September. It just feels like the right time for us to return to be reunited with Jay, Annie and Olivia as well as family and friends and we are really looking forward now to all that entails.
But in the meantime, we still have just under three months to soak up more experiences and get ourselves ready for the big return
Until next time……
